Austria and Slovenia: good neighbours with a long history
The winner of this year’s best foreign investment award for long-term presence, Rosenbauer, is one of the many examples of successful Austrian investment in Slovenia. Austria has, in fact, been number one foreign investor in Slovenia since independence. According to the latest data published by the Bank of Slovenia, Austria’s share of FDIs in Slovenia exceeds 30 percent: that’s more than the combined shares of Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, the other three major investor countries. Best Foreign Direct Investment Awards 2016
This year’s best foreign direct investors in Slovenia are German company Novem Car Interior Design, Austrian printing company Leykam, Austrian firefighting equipment manufacturer Rosenbauer, and South Korean logistics specialist Glovis Europe. The FDI Awards project is traditionally organised in November by SPIRIT Slovenia, the Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalisation, Foreign Investments and Technology. MORE
Slovenia’s electronics industry: thriving in narrow niches
Slovenia’s electronics industry was well presented at this year’s Electronica in Munich, Germany, this November. Electronica is the world’s leading trade fair for electronic components, systems and applications. Amongst the companies present at the fair were printed circuit board developers and manufacturers Kolektor, one of Slovenia’s largest groups, and companies developing components for the world’s top particle accelerators. This year’s winner of the Slovenian Golden Gazelle Award for best fast growing company is NiceLabel Euro Plus, a leading global provider of label and marking productivity solutions. The fastest growth rate since 2010 has been recorded by Vobenca, whose sales grew by a staggering 2,400 percent in five years. Vobenca has become one of the leading Slovenian companies in terms of timber procurement. MORE
